New and interesting research is always welcomed in the realm of security, hardware hacking, social engineering, lockpicking, and anything else you can modify, bypass or reverse engineer. DEFCON 16 Artwork Contest
(Please read this section carefully)
Whip out your favorite medium and get to creating, because the official DEFCON 16 Art Contest is now underway! This year’s contest is a bit different from previous years, and will run now to June 15, 2008.
The Object
To create a poster for DEFCON 16, in a historical art style of your choice. A few examples of historical styles are:
Constructivism
Art Nouveau
Mid 20th Century Propaganda (WWII, 50’s advertising, etc.)
Illuminated Medieval Manuscript
Rococo
Impressionism
Cro-Magnon Cave Painting
Basically any style in history, but keep this in mind, we are looking for submissions that have a period feel. Also, don’t be afraid to add technology to your piece, this is a hacker con. Use of the DEFCON logos is allowed, but will not be provided by DEFCON.

Entries will be posted at pics.defcon.org for viewing and peoples choice voting. Selected entries will be printed and displayed, with recognition for the winner(s) at DEFCON 16 (location TBD).
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st Place – Free Admission to DEFCON 16, $100 Credit at Swag Booth, Program Feature, Printed Copy of Poster
2nd Place - Free Admission to DEFCON 16, $50 Credit at Swag Booth, Printed Copy of Poster
3rd Place – Free Admission to DEFCON 16, $30 credit at Swag Booth, Printed Copy of poster
People’s Choice (pics.defcon.org vote) – Free Admission to DEFCON 16, $20 Credit at Swag Booth, Printed Copy of Poster
The Rules:
IMPORTANT! Submissions not fitting these criteria will be subject to rejection and possible ridicule. By submitting, you grant DEFCON the right to reproduce your artwork with reasonable attribution in any way we see fit without compensation. We reserve the right not to choose a winner.
Any medium may be used, as long as the final submission is in a specified digital format. If you use stock photos, art, etc., make sure it is either public domain or that you own the rights to it. The poster design must include the text:

Submission Deadline: All submissions must be received by June 15, 2008
Submit entries to: neil [at] defcon dot org
Submission info to include: Real name (your identity must be verifiable to collect a prize) and desired nick/handle if any; and a title and description of your piece, including a statement of the style you chose.
Dimensions and Specs: All entries must be 11”x17”. Acceptable raster entries must be flattened, and 225dpi in .eps, .tif, or .jpg format. Acceptable vector entries must be in .ai (Adobe Illustrator), .eps or .pdf format with type converted to outlines and any raster effects set at high quality. Delivery is the responsibility of the entrant, if the entry is too large to email you may post it online for download.
